COUNSELORS :: ANN FICHTINGER

Ann Fichtinger, MA is a licensed mental health counselor in Iowa and Wisconsin. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, (CCMHC). Ann received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. She received a Masters of Arts Degree in Applied Psychology from Loras College.
During her undergraduate years Ann worked with a domestic violence program, and volunteered with developmentally disabled children. After completion of her undergraduate degree and while working on her graduate degree Ann worked as a residential advisor in a community based correctional facility.
Ann began her counseling career working first as a graduate intern at a Community Mental Health Center assisting with a child /adolescent sexual abuse treatment program. After completing her Masters degree Ann continued in this field, working as the coordinator of a child adolescent sexual abuse treatment program. Ann coordinated the group therapy program, supervised the group therapists, facilitated a parents group and provided individual assessment and counseling for children and adolescents recovering from sexual abuse.
After leaving her position at the Mental Health Center, Ann continued work in the field of sexual trauma as a therapist and clinical director for a Sexual Assault Services Agency. Ann pursued a broader range of counseling experience working for the past eight years in Private Practice. Ann has worked with children adolescents and adults with a variety of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, sexual abuse, ADHD and behavioral problems. Ann works with all ages and has specialized training in EMDR, level II, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, (PCIT) and Theraplay.
Ann is a volunteer for the American Red Cross as a Disaster Mental Health Services volunteer. Ann is interested in Humanitarian work, and hopes to further pursue this interest in the future. Over the past years she has participated in several international projects, including working with refugees seeking asylum, uncovering historical evidence from a German WWII detention camp for young girls, and coordinating recreational activities for mentally and physically disabled adults residing in a self sufficient community.
Ann enjoys traveling and lived for two and half years in Germany from 1999 to 2001, where she studied the language and traveled as often as possible.
