COUNSELORS :: LYNNE LUTZE

Lynne Lutze's educational background includes undergraduate and graduate studies in Psychology. Her undergraduate training consists of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Minor in Sociology with a concentration in Adolescent Psychology. Her graduate studies include a Masters of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling. Ms. Lutze's graduate program required internship experience working in elementary, junior high and high school placements. Both Bachelor and Masters degrees were acquired from the University of Wisconsin-Stout located in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Ms. Lutze received her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology August, 2006 from Capella University located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her educational journey has embodied psychological application, theory, and practice with underserved populations.

Ms. Lutze's professional background includes a variety of experiences ranging from residential treatment, public school sector, higher education, and most recently out-patient community mental health care. As Youth Care Worker she was able to work with children and adolescents from diverse backgrounds within a residential care facility. The Youth Care Worker position enabled her to acquire training and practical application in therapy, diagnoses, and treatment plans. As High School Guidance Counselor she was able to enhance her skills working with adolescents struggling with behavioral and cognitive problems, physical disabilities, and emotional intensity issues. Ms. Lutze was able to juggle the roles of administrator, counselor, and teacher by utilizing open communication and accountability.

Her next endeavor brought further experience in teaching and administration at the higher education level. As the Director of Career Services she worked with young adults and non-traditional age students from diverse populations. This position introduced advanced training and practical use of clinical assessments and interest inventories. She was able to enhance her skills and abilities in counseling, teaching, administration, and event coordination. She has taught at the college level. In 2005-2006 Ms. Lutze signed a one year contract with Clarke College to help in the Psychology Department. Ms. Lutze taught five classes during both spring and fall semesters. She was able to develop on-line curriculum and deliver the on-line courses. She enjoys teaching youth, and young adults. To add, Ms. Lutze has been guest speaker and presenter for local agencies and hospitals delivering educational information to underserved populations.

Ms. Lutze's clinical experiences have focused primarily with disadvantaged populations of all ages. She has been employed with two separate out patient facilities both as a therapist and doctoral student in training. The first placement was with the Gannon Center for Community Mental Health Dubuque, Iowa. The Gannon Center allowed supervised experience with psychological assessments, including testing, mental status evaluations, clinical interviews, diagnostic interviews, and collateral interviews; scored and interpreted test data; wrote psychological reports; rendered diagnoses and prognoses, made recommendations for treatment, and consulted with patients regarding the results of the test data. Her client case-load included culturally diverse children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric individuals.

Presently Ms. Lutze is with Crossroads Counseling Center located in Dubuque, Iowa. Ms. Lutze utilizes her training with psychological evaluations and out patient mental health counseling. She works predominantly with children and adolescents. Overall Ms. Lutze has been in the counseling industry for approximately eleven years. She has incorporated her doctoral training which includes, diagnostic evaluations, clinical examinations, custody evaluations, court ordered evaluations, and other services for her clinical population. To add, her passion and commitment to the mental health industry will aide in the betterment of individuals' lives.
