COUNSELORS :: MELISSA DIGMANN
|
Melissa Digmann was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she majored in psychology and theatre arts. Melissa then went on to complete the Master’s degree
in Social Work from St. Ambrose University. She became a Licensed Master’s Level
Social Worker in 2007 and a Licensed Independent Social Worker in 2010.
During the course of her graduate studies Melissa interned at the Outpatient Clinic at
Tanager Place in Cedar Rapids, as well as Hillcrest Mental Health in Dubuque. During
this time Melissa was able to implement the Strength Based Empowerment approach
utilized at St. Ambrose University in working with adults and children with mental health
issues. Melissa moved to Dubuque in 2006 and began working at Lutheran Services
in Iowa. During her four years at Lutheran Services Melissa worked as a case worker,
LPHA, and supervisor under the Family Safety Risk and Permanency program working
with families and individuals in the community.
Melissa joined Crossroads Counseling Center in July of 2010, in her practice Melissa’s
area of emphasis include adult and teen mental health issues, including but not limited
to depression, anxiety, PTSD, treatment of Personality Disorders, self-esteem and
healthy relationships. Melissa’ s approach is strength-based utilizing cognitive behavioral
therapies to focus on coping skills, building insight and intuitions, and also placing a
strong emphasis on whole body wellness and achieving personal empowerment goals.
In her free time Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends,
cooking, running, and traveling. Melissa also enjoys cheering on the Hawkeyes and her
beloved Denver Broncos.
